Recently the Art Station has enhanced its program by offering courses beyond enrichment designed to deepen art appreciation, develop artistic thinking and enhance basic art-making skills. These courses focus on idea development so that each student sees endless ways to express feelings, inventions, observations and unique ideas through artistic process, supporting the belief that art involves lifelong learning.

Based on the centuries-old tradition of the atelier, Atelier 6000 is a center for an energetic community of artists, working collaboratively, sharing ideas, technique and process – it’s a place for learning and inspiration; a studio-workshop where students from all lifestyles, from absolute beginners to professional artists learn directly from master artist teachers.
A well-equipped studio, A6 has 2000 square feet with three presses for plate lithography, etching, and monotype. Dedicated to sustainable practices, A6 prints with less toxic and “green” materials using soy-based water-soluble inks; no caustic chemicals or acids usually associated with printmaking are used during the print process.
Sponsored by Atelier 6000, guest artists participating in the Artist in Residence program travel from throughout the northwest to present workshops in bookarts, print techniques, encaustic printmaking and more. Community classes are open to the public and college courses are offered through COCC and Oregon State University in the open studio environment of Atelier 6000. Instructors include full-time studio artists as well as professors from colleges and universities.
