Grammy award winning bluegrass singer, songwriter and fiddler Alison Krauss got her start by winning bluegrass contests at the age of ten. At 14 she cut her first full length record for Rounder records. Since then she’s released eleven albums with her band Union Station, including this years latest entry Paper Airplane. Her work on the Coen Brothers soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou, led to an engaging couple of years spent with T-Bone Burnett and Robert Plant crafting and touring behind the outright gorgeous release Raising Sand.
Good Old War an indie-rock trio from Pennsylvania will open the show. The band is made up of Keith Goodwin (vocalist/guitarist), Daniel Schwartz (vocalist/guitarist) and Tim Arnold (vocalist/drummer). The band's name comes from the last names of the three members; Goodwin for Good, Arnold for Old, and Schwartz for War. Their 2010 self titled album Good Old War was created over the previous winter in the Pocono Mountains and explores new approaches to their music-making process far outside indie-rock/folk territory and includes subjects like love, loss, and addiction.
“Together as Good Old War the trio have mastered the art of three part vocal harmonies and their lively and intricate songs are a throwback to the days when Crosby, Stills, & Nash ruled the Rock world” – Alternative Press
