RISE: U.S. Figure Skating Special Theater Event
RISE on February 17. NCM Fathom and U.S. Figure Skating will present the cinematic feature RISE
as part of a special in-theater event. This historic one-night Fathom
Event will celebrate American figure skating while commemorating the
50th anniversary and legacy of the 1961 U.S. World Team tragedy.
The event will be broadcast live from New York City and will be hosted by Matt Lauer. The event will feature the premier of RISE and uniquely choreographed figure skating performances, including a piece by 2010 Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek. An inspirational cinematic feature about the power of the human spirit, RISE will take audiences on a journey that honors a remarkable group of athletes who through their loss inspired the hopes, dreams and successes of some of the most iconic names in Olympic sports history.
Interviews with RISE storytellers Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano and Michelle Kwan, and reactions from other American figure skating legends, will proceed and follow the premiere of RISE.
