St. Charles Summer Sunday concert with The Greencards (roots/folk).

greencards.Web.jpgThe Greencards are part of the progressive bluegrass “newgrass" sound that draws from a wide variety of musical influences, ranging from Irish traditional music, gypsy, rock, folk and Latin sounds. The Greencards have toured extensively including appearances at Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Austin City Limits, Lollapolooza and MerleFest. The Greencards toured with Dylan and Willie Nelson in 2005. They earned the Americana Music Award in 2006 for Emerging Artist of the Year and received Grammy nominations in 2008 and 2010 for Best Country Instrumental Performance. The band was formed in Austin, TX in 2003 and were initially composed of two Australians, Kym Warner on mandolin and Carol Young on bass and vocals, and Englishman, Eamon McLoughlin, on fiddle. The Greencards have been based in Nashville since 2005. McLoughlin left the band in 2009 and was replaced by Tyler Andal, a fiddle player from Tennessee. Carl Miner, originally from Oregon, joined the group in May 2010, playing acoustic guitar. The Brick Album will be released in June 2011. The Greencards played the Sisters Folk Festival in September 2007.
