Oregon WinterFest

Oregon WinterFest Returns February 12-14, 2016 with expanded event footprint and NEW Fire Pit People’s Choice Award.

The 2016 Oregon WinterFest will return to the Old Mill District in Bend on February 12-14. The massive celebration of all things winter will bring national music acts, a fire pit competition, ice sculptures, the OMSI Kids Area, fine art, delicious food, beer, wine and so much more.

Event producers are excited to announce that they will expand the footprint of the event, with an extension on SW Shevlin Hixon Drive that will culminate in front of the Art Station. The Fire Pit Competition will also be larger and more impressive than years past, with more than 20 pits and sculptures lining the Deschutes River and a new People’s Choice Award.

Watch as the Old Mill District turns into a winter wonderland! There is something for everyone at WinterFest held February 12-14, 2016.

Music:

OMSI Kids Area:

Interactive science and play area with activities facilitated by Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Marketplace:

Arts and crafts, fashion and specialty foods will fill the marketplace with more vendors than ever before.

Food:

Showcasing the best of Central Oregon’s food festival scene, the 2016 Oregon WinterFest will feature more chefs, more food carts, and more flavor.

Tickets & Hours

WinterFest weekend: Friday, 5-10pm, Saturday, 11am-10pm and Sunday 11am-6pm.

Tickets available in advance $10 per person in advance at the Ticket Mill and around town. Tickets are $12 at the gate. Family 4 pack available at the gate for $36. (Must include two children under 18.)

Children 2 years and under are free. Ticket information at Oregon WinterFest. A portion of proceeds benefit Saving Grace.

Wine Walk

Embark on a tasting tour of fine wines as you stroll through the Old Mill District on the banks of the crystalline Deschutes River. Friday night in the Old Mill District.

The Whole Foods Market Wine Walk is a wonderful opportunity to gather with other wine lovers and find your new favorite winemaker.

Fire King & Ice Queen

Fire King and Ice Queen Return! After watching her Ice Throne melt in the unseasonable temperatures of Oregon WinterFest 2015, the Ice Queen’s coronation will this year take place on an impressive, custom-crafted metal throne to rival the Fire King’s towering perch. The royal pair will once again make surprise appearances throughout Bend prior to the opening of Oregon WinterFest 2016, as well as throughout the festival.

Ice Sculpture Competition

The Ice Sculpture Competition attracts groups and individuals from around the region. Loved by kids and adults alike, this live ice carving exhibition and competition brings ice and sparkle to the heart of the event. Bigger than ever before, 10 sculptures will come to life through the work of live artists chipping away on giant slabs of ice.

Saxon's Fine Jewelers is sponsoring Ice Sculptures at Winterfest and will have artist James Stugart carving outside the Saxon's building from 5-7pm during the Wine Walk on Friday evening.

Fire Pit Competition

The incredibly popular Fire Pit Competition returns with more artists than ever before. More than 20 Fire Pits and Fire Sculptures will blaze along the Deschutes River in the Old Mill District. New this year will be the People’s Choice Award. Formerly held to professional judging only, the competition will this year open up and ask festivalgoers to vote on their favorite submissions too!

Take a stroll through the fire pit contest and exhibition where elaborate, detailed fire pits take the Central Oregon backyard staple to incredible, artistic levels. While the pits light up both the day and night, it is a special treat to see the flames burning against the cold, night sky.

Experimental Metal Arts

Central Oregon Metal Arts Guild (COMAG) will once again sponsor this interactive area. Hands-on metal and hot glass demonstrations plus 20-minute presentations by Fire Pit Competition artists, as well as “poofer” games, and a community metal sculpture project designed and facilitated by Orion Forge.

 

Children's Tent

Oregon WinterFest is excited to welcome back the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry courtesy of the Bend Research Children’s Tent with brain teasers and hands-on exhibits and demonstrations focused on chemistry, physics, biology and more. The Children's Tent will be open Friday, 5-8pm, Saturday, 11-8pm and Sunday 11-6pm.

 

Dog Show

Every K9 Kings Dog Show features a fun mix of music, costumes, comedy, audience participation and high-flying trick dogs. See performance schedule above.

Kids Hot Cocoa Run

Kids Hot Cocoa Run: Each Prince and Princess will run from station to station, building a cup of hot cocoa that is good enough for royalty on Saturday, February 13 at 1pm. Stations will include fun ingredients to make the perfect cup of hot cocoa. When the cross the finish line they will be awarded the final touch, the hot cocoa! This event will leave the little runners feeling like they rule the world.

 

Royal Run

The Royal Run (5k & 1.5k run) on Sunday, February 14 at 12 noon. This Royal Run is a fun run with obstacles. Costumes encourages, prizes for best Snow Wars costume.

Costumes are encouraged, but not required. The WinterFest Fire King and Ice Queen will be there to congratulate you as you cross the finish line and will join you at the post race celebration. Awards Ceremony in Bent Lounge between 1-2pm.

 

Motor Sports Spectacle

The motorcross team Metal Mulisha will hit the big air track and will showcase their sickest tricks and death-defying stunts during BIG AIR shows.  This world-famous motorcross team brings some of its best riders for your viewing pleasure. See performance schedule above.
