PRESS RELEASE JUNE 15, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: TUMALO ART CO. 385-9144 JANICE DRUIAN CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF OREGON’S PAST IN HER EXHIBIT OPENING JULY 3RD AT TUMALO ART CO. IN THE OLD MILL On July 3rd Janice Druian will open her new exhibit, “Overlooked Oregon”, depicting her travels through rural Oregon at Tumalo Art Co., now located in the Old Mill District just south of REI, during the First Friday Gallery Walk. From 5-9pm. Several years ago Druian began painting abandoned places in Oregon. “ I wanted to capture overlooked artifacts of the disappearing Oregon history like old ranch buildings and abandoned trailers. Since beginning this series I’ve returned to some favorite landscapes only to find the houses, buildings or trailers demolished”, Druian says. So in 2008 Druian began in earnest to capture some of these unique places before they were lost. Her paintings speak of another time, and place and carry the mystery inherent in these places filled with character and beauty. Tumalo Art Co. is a collective of local fine artists representing a wide range of mediums and subject matter. Open seven days a week. www.tumaloartco.com . 541-385-9144
