Orvis Casting Course

The Orvis Casting Course in the Old Mill District is the only 18-hole golf-style casting course of its kind in North America. It was designed for fun, education, and provides an opportunity to practice essential casting skills before going fishing or during the off-season. The course is free and open to the public.

Each station is named after a given fishing location or situation, exemplifying its unique challenges; some will require roll casts, some distance and a level of accuracy.  The unique course is a great way to improve your fly casting skills and have fun while in the Old Mill District. The casting course is open daily from dawn to dusk.  Please note that during concerts at Les Schwab Amphitheater holes 10-14 may be subject to closure.

Fly Fishing Classes

Orvis will offer Fly Fishing 101 from May through September most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10am-1pm. The free three-hour class will introduce people to the basics of fly fishing.  

Fly Fishing 201 A half day one-of-a-kind fishing opportunity on pristine water (class $50) at a private ranch and a chance to land your first fish!  

Corporate Fly Fishing Schools Start with a total immersion fly fishing instruction at Orvis before enjoying fishing time on local water.  (1-Day School: $235; 2-Day School: $470). Classes run May-October 2012.
